LEICESTER relied on three riders for the bulk of their scoring in a 55-35 defeat at Swindon.
Hans Andersen, Scott Nicholls and Leicester-born David Howe piled up the points but the team could find no answer to the superior all-round strength of the home side.
On a night when racing was delayed thanks to rain, the Watling JCB Lions’ top three did their best in tough circumstances after rain at 4pm.
Simon Stead’s men even finished in style with a 5-1 maximum on a good night of racing but Swindon had already done the job required.
Swindon were in a determined mood and pulled off some fine passing moves early on despite concerns over conditions after the downpour.
Leicester co-promoter Neil Machin said: “Swindon is a tough place to go and the established riders in our side showed all their experience.
“There are some disappointed guys on our dressing room as well, but we have to regroup and move on to Poole on Thursday. It doesn’t get any easier.
“All I would say is to all Leicester fans, this is a disappointing run and meetings are running out for us.
“We are back to home on Monday and we need the fans to get right behind us. I’m sure they will.”
FRENCH international David Bellego steps in for Charles Wright at Poole on Thursday night.
Bellego rode for his country in the Speedway of Nations World Pairs Championship in June.
Wright is unavailable and Leicester are yet to announce a guest rider for Josh Auty at reserve.
Tapes up in Dorset 7.30.
